Have A Cuppa

It's friday and it finally feels like we are fully into 2025! Now every friday (or at least every friday I can) I will do this Have A Cuppa post just talking about me a bit and what I am playing, watching, collecting or just general life stuff. Just a bit of a way to clear my mind much like this blog is when it comes to me talking about all my interest. So lets talk about what I have been up to since beginning of this year.

What I've Been Playing

Tomb Raider Remastered 1

In an earlier post (link here) I wrote about all my New Year Gaming Resolutions, my main one being to play every Tomb Raider game. I thought no better time to start than straight away so on Monday downloaded and started playing the first Tomb Raider. It has been an absolute nostalgia trip but I will say it's bloody hard too, especially the late game puzzles. The last time I played the game I was only a kid and never got far, I spent more time playing around Lara's mansion than the actual game. Now I am a fully grown man with bills and a job, and I really struggle with some of the puzzles, especially in the Egypt area and end up looking up 20 year old cheat sheets to help me (which makes me feels old..). I wasn't expecting the game to take so long as well, I do admit half the time I am running round like a headless chicken but it is a long game which I feel like is a rarity in the PS1 era. I am still really enjoying the game though with Lara kicking all kinds of ass as she forces her way through all sorts of dangers and traps, but will admit I am looking forwards to rolling credits and moving on to Tomb Raider 2 which I have never played. Plus I never knew about the Mummys and the one that burst out of the statue gave me a complete heart failure.

Path Of Exile 2

Yet again another game which I posted about earlier (link here) and absolutely showering it with praise and love. I adore this game and running through the earlier acts with my Ranger while helping a mate of mine level up. It is great fun playing with two players, but I will admit as soon as you add a third it does get a bit messy and a lot easier when it comes to boss fights. In general though it feels great to play with more players (I believe you can have up to 8 in a party!?) but I do think if you want the peak campaign experience then two is perfect. My Ranger is quickly becoming my favourite character with her poison destruction, she just feels so great to play in any situation. My plan is to complete finish all the acts in normal and hard mode, play a little of the end game, and then run a hardcore character. I can't wait.

BALATRO

I mean this game is more addictive than pringles. I love it so much but am always scared to play it since 10 minutes quickly turn into 3 hours. It is the perfect rogue like card game, its so simple but so addictive.

Far Cry 5

After a slight hiatus over the christmas period, me and my dad finally got back into Far Cry 5. I often play with my dad once a week as since we live countries apart it is really one of the only chances I get to speak to him for a few hours. We have been doing this almost every week since I moved countries in 2021 and I thoroughly enjoy it. He has gotten to be a better gamer as well from it and now I can actually rely on him to revive me which makes me a lot more prouder than it should. We have just moved into the third area after beating Faith is a rather rubbish boss fight and are now taking on Jacob. It takes us ages to finish a game cause of all the chaos involved (He is in the third area and just learnt how to parachute...) but it is always so much fun and lots of laughs.

What I plan to play

Getting Back Into Gatcha

I just can't seem to stay away from it. I have been getting an itch to jump back into a good mobile gatcha game and redownloaded a few of my old favourites. The three im struggling to decide to make my main mobile game are Wuthering Waves (great story, got me hooked on release), Honkai StarRail (for Kafka.... and the epic ultimate moves), and Nikke Goddess Of Victory (for.....plot..). I am going to play all threee for a few days and see which one I vibe with the most again. Worst case I get into all three games.

Metaphor Refantazio

This weekend is the first weekend in a while that I actually don't have any plans. Normally when this is the case I will meet up with friends or invite someone over but I am actually quite excited to just spend some time with myself and possibly finally start this mammoth of a game. I adored Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal just made everything better so now the legendary director of these game Katsura Hashino has opened his own studio and released Metaphor I am extremely excited to try it. The problem has been I want to get lost in the game for a weekend and havent had the chance, now I have this weekend and also some vacation from work coming up so it really is the best time.

What I'm watching

Blue Lock Season 2

I finally got back into anime again and started the new year with Blue Lock. It has been entertaining so far with them all competing for a place in a team to go against Japan U20, but I just am not getting the same almost Saw like vibes I was in the first one. I hope the show gets more intense and darker as it progresses.

Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest

Yes I am one of them people. Look Fairy Tail was the first anime I ever watched and because of that it will always have a place in my heart even though I can hapily admit it is by far not even a great anime. For me however I absolutely adored seeing the gang back together and all the classic banter being back again. I only just started the anime but this will be my wind down show I watch every evening, plus it is the only anime I watch in dubbed instead of sub. Please dont hate me...

Board Games + Card Games

Nemesis

Last Friday a group of us met up to play Nemesis the board game. The game itself is like the movie Alien, a group are on a ship that is getting taken over by hostile aliens. You can't kill them all so you have to sneak and escape from the aliens while trying to secretly achieve your objective and escape alive and not infected. The fun part is that your objective can be kill another player which you can't literally shot or hurt them but you could lock them in a room with an alien or blow up the ship and escape in a escape pod. This always adds a sense of tension and an uneasy alliance normally always ends up breaking. The last time I played I killed everyone on the ship and escaped alive, this was my greatest game I played of Nemesis and was a bit nervous to come back to it. This time I was again the only survivor but my objective was not killing everyone like last but instead grabbing a body and sending a signal. Overall it is probably my top 3 favourite board games to play and always a story seems to unfold while playing. If you have tried it and have 4 other friends who are interested then I definitely recommend it.

Magic The Gathering Commander

My favourite card game. Played some 1v1 with my good friend and he stomped me 4-1. I did beat him with my new pirate deck which is really cool and different to my other decks. Looking forward to playing more.

Well I think that's all for the moment! I promise I do have a good social life… Looking forward to a very chilled weekend and finally playing some Metaphor!

I hope you all have a great weekend as well and hope the weather is good for at least a trip to the coffee shop.
